They just did an ultrasound of his lungs and his oxygen sat., for some unknown reason, went from 83% to 87%. Praise Jesus!

Brian had to be cleaned up at 6am so that means they had to turn him. He de-saturated to the low 70’s. Currently he is at 80/81. His temp is normal. Dr Rivera said they are in uncharted territory because it’s rare that someone, with this low level of oxygen, survives for this long. I’m just thankful for today….and I’m hopeful. “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” ~ Collisions...

They stopped dialysis 30 minutes early because he went into atrial fibrillation. They’re giving him meds to regulate it. They will be doing dialysis again tomorrow, but this time, they will do it in a way that doesn’t alter his body chemistry. It’s much gentler on his body and that way, they believe, he won’t have a problem with atrial fibrillation. Dialysis is helping him to get fluid out of his lungs. His temp is down to 99.3. His oxygen sat. is 84%. They expected him to de-sat a little when they did dialysis, but his numbers should improve tonight. His BP is stable. I’m praying that he will have a good, restful night and just keep moving in the right direction to oxygenate his blood and heal his lungs. Thank you for your...

I asked Brian’s nurse, ” So why do you think his oxygen numbers are getting better? Is it the BP meds you gave him? Why do you think they’re going up? He said, “There’s no reason why they would go up.” I said, “What did you say?” He said, “It wasn’t the BP med. There’s no reason that the number would go up.” I know God answered our prayers. Whether it’s extra time with him or God’s going to give him 20 more years, I’m so thankful to Him. GOD IS SO GOOD!

They tweaked Brian’s ventilator to see if they could get his oxygen sat. number to come up. It went up to 83% but most of the time it’s been staying at 82%. The kidney doctor said they are going to put him on dialysis today due to slightly elevated numbers. They will back off if he doesn’t tolerate it well. They also started him on BP med. due to his low BP. He had a temp of 102 so they gave him Tylenol and put ice bags under his arms. I’ve been wiping his forehead with a cool washcloth to help cool him down. (I checked his oxygen sat. just before posting this; it’s at 84/85.) Thank you for praying. “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah...

Brian had a to be cleaned up at 5 am, so they had to turn him. His oxygen sat. went from 88% to 76%. It’s taking time for him to re-saturate. It’s at 82% now. His BP is low, Dr Rivera, will give him medication to get it back to where it should be. Dr Rivera is concerned that Brian’s oxygenation isn’t better. He’s worried about scarring in the lungs. They will do an ABG test later this morning. Thank you for praying. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior and my hope is in You all day long.” ~ Psalm 25:5

The infectious disease doctor just left. He said Brian is pretty much the same but better than last week. He said “Brian has been plateauing for sometime and I’d like to see him get better by Monday, if possible.” He said that we can’t leave him on 100% oxygen, via the endotracheal tube, forever. He’d like to do a tracheostomy soon, but he can’t do that if Brian is still on 100% oxygen….there’s no wiggle room. Brian will de-saturate when they do the tracheostomy, so he needs better oxygenation before they do it. Please pray that his lungs heal and his oxygenation goes way up this weekend. It’s at 88% right now, Friday. The doctor would like to see it at 95-96%, prior to the tracheostomy. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! Our family feels loved, supported and cared for by...

The respiratory therapist made some adjustments to Brian’s ventilator and his oxygen sat. is at 87 (it was 84-85 at 7am this morning). His kidney doctor will continue giving him diuretics to help get rid of the fluid his body was retaining. They’ve added protein powder to his feedings and he’s tolerating it well, with no residual. I’m so thankful for another day. Please pray for the lungs to heal without scarring, for improved oxygenation and for no complications. Thank you for your prayers! The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” ~ Lamentations...
